HISTORY
Marcel (1959) and Monique (1958) van Dijk took over a flower shop on the Dorpstraat in Veldhoven in 1980. Entrepreneurs full of enthusiasm, passion and entrepreneurial drive. And a distinct vision of the flower trade. Both trained as florists and had an enormous love of beautiful things from nature.
Marcel gradually widened his path by focusing more on transforming large spaces into atmospheric spaces. His vision: natural décor where flowers and plants merge with the décor. Oogenlust made a difficult start in its early years. But by sticking to its own vision without making concessions, a strong brand now stands 40 years later. With great recognition in the market.
A few years after opening in Dorpstraat, Oogenlust moved to a new shop in Veldhoven's City-centre. An external warehouse was rented there because of all the large orders coming in from the event industry. A unique vision and style gained increasing recognition. Monique stayed at home for the first 10 years raising their five children, but she was always the support. As Monique slowly returned, she took charge of Oogenlust's administration and PR. Gradually, as the team grew, everything related to Personnel & Organisation was added. Marcel and Monique complement each other perfectly. And that is perhaps the secret of their success.
7 years later, Oogenlust moved from the City-centre to the De Run industrial estate in Veldhoven. A large warehouse for all decors, workshops, offices and a beautiful showroom on the edge of the industrial estate. Fortunately, even private customers still know how to find them here. It turned out to be a huge success.
10 years later, team Oogenlust continued to build a new future. In October 2013, Oogenlust moved to the Stuivertje in Eersel, to domain Oogenlust in Eersel. A beautiful 5.5-hectare site, completely surrounded by greenery.
At Oogenlust domain, atmosphere and experience come together. A place where you can stroll around unconstrained and where you are inspired by all the beauty around you. Walking, cycling and enjoying nature are all possible on the domain. In the beautiful shop you will find special products selected with care. But you can also still come to Oogenlust for plants or a beautiful bouquet. Also for art exhibitions or a creative workshop in one of the inspiring rooms.
Now, 42 years later, our son Wim has an increasingly decisive role in our business.
He is building on our wonderful foundation that we have achieved together with our team over all these 42 years.
However, Oogenlust is still in search of the ultimate beauty of all that nature bringsthat doesn't change. Oogenlust still works for a 'ten' and is actually not satisfied with anything less than an 'eight'. The bar is still high! Fortunately, it is appreciated by visitors and clients
